An escaped juvenile inmate was recaptured this evening in Tampa, Florida. Fifteen-year-old Jahmir Moore, who had been on the run since earlier in the day, was found and arrested without incident on the 100-block of West Keyes Avenue. The Tampa Police worked in conjunction with the US Marshals Task Force to secure Moore's capture, according to the Tampa Police Department.

Moore's escape earlier that day had put the local community on high alert. He was initially apprehended on Wednesday for his alleged connection to the death of 14-year-old Jevario Buie. Moore was being held at the Hillsborough Regional Juvenile Detention Center, under the jurisdiction of the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice, at the time of his escape. A video from a nearby business captured Moore running westbound from the Detention center, triggering a manhunt.

The recapture brings some relief to the Tampa community and the family of Jevario Buie. "Tonight, the family of Jevario Buie and our community can rest knowing a dangerous individual is back in custody," Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw stated, according to the Tampa Police Department. The successful arrest was a combined effort, and Chief Bercaw expressed his gratitude towards the officers: "I am incredibly appreciative of the officers who worked tirelessly since this morning when they were alerted of Moore’s escape. Let this be a reminder to those who think they can evade Tampa Police, they cannot, and they will be held accountable."
