
A tragic turn of events at Lauderdale Marina in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, occurred on Monday evening when a boat exploded, causing one fatality and leaving several others injured. According to NBC Miami, Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue reported the incident happened around 6 p.m., with the resulting fire spreading to a second boat.
The fallout from the unfortunate incident led to hospitalization for five individuals, three of whom are reported by FOX 13 News to have "traumatic injuries." During a search operation, dive team from the local fire rescue, assisted by the Broward Sheriff’s Office, recovered one person deceased in the water.
The identity of an individual who lost their life has yet to be released, while the exact circumstances that led to the explosion remain unknown. Firefighters quickly attended to the flames, and the fire department has since confirmed that the blaze was extinguished. An investigation into the cause of the explosion is actively being pursued.
