Austin Police Department (APD) officials responded to the incident on December 9, which occurred approximately at 6:08 p.m. Among the vehicle's occupants was Regina Natalie Reyes, a white female born on May 26, 1962, who, after being transported to a local hospital, was pronounced deceased.
The aftermath saw both drivers remain on the scene, with authorities noting that there were no signs of impairment from either party. As the investigation unfolds, APD officers are working to understand the precise circumstances leading up to the crash. The initial assessment indicates a sobering statistic; this incident marks Austin’s 85th fatal crash of 2024, which, to date, has resulted in 90 fatalities.
