The driver was reported to have gotten out of the vehicle immediately after the accident to discover she had struck a man. Despite the early hour, police were to already have received a call regarding a man having a behavioral episode, spitting on cars, and yelling profanities at a nearby Valero gas station. This man's description matched that of the deceased, although it has not been confirmed to be the same individual. The police have not indicated whether the driver will face any charges.
