
Tragedy struck early yesterday morning when a car involved in a high-speed collision with a Milwaukee County bus resulted in one fatality. According to TMJ4, the incident occurred at approximately 12:35 a.m. at the intersection of Oakland and Locust on the east side of Milwaukee.
The consequences of the crash left the bus with substantial damage, and a 37-year-old motorist deceased. Milwaukee police disclosed that the driver had been trying to quickly get away from a traffic stop, then proceeded to tear through a red light, consequently slamming the bus which had the right of way. This additional detail was reported by WISN 12 News, capturing the rash decisions leading up to the fatal collision.
Further adding to the sad turn of events, the driver's identity has not been made public as of yet, as notified by the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office. Meanwhile, on-site paramedics responded quickly, taking two individuals from the MCTS bus, including the driver, to a hospital for medical attention. These were the only passengers aboard at the time of the crash. Confirmation of their expected recovery was provided by FOX6 News.
Community members like Rehana Sultana and Kenneth Eckardt, as relayed by FOX6 News, share a sentiment of persistent concern over reckless driving in the area. "They drive too fast, not paying attention to where they’re going, who’s in the intersection or not," Sultana noted, while Eckardt added his observation of frequent red light violations. Milwaukee police urge anyone with additional information to actively come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
