An incident unfolded last night in the Arden-Arcade area, where a pedestrian lost their life after an encounter with a vehicle. As reported by KCRA, the California Highway Patrol confirmed that the individual was attempting to cross Marconi Avenue near Lacy Lane but unfortunately crossed in front of a westbound car.
The collision, which took place around 5:30 p.m. along the 3000 block of Marconi Avenue, ended with the pedestrian being pronounced dead at the scene. The CHP, in their statement, has indicated that alcohol was not believed to be a contributing factor in this incident, according to ABC10.
Authorities closed off the area for investigation, subsequently causing a brief disruption in traffic while they pieced together the circumstances leading to the fatal accident. Details about the victim or the driver involved have not been released pending notification of kin and further investigation.
While crossing in front of the vehicle, pedestrians are reminded by safety experts to remain vigilant and always use designated crosswalks where visibility is higher, and signals control vehicle flow, according to a statement by the CHP reported by ABC10.
