A tragic incident left one pedestrian dead in Howard County after a car collision last night. The Howard County Police Department has confirmed that an adult male was fatally struck while attempting to cross Cedar Lane in Columbia, not far from the intersection with Holland Court. The accident, involving a 2013 Hyundai Sonata heading north, occurred around 5:15 p.m., as reported by FOX Baltimore.
Remaining on the scene, the man driving the Sonata was reported to have not sustained injuries in the collision. The identity of the deceased has not been disclosed, and notification of next of kin has been pending. As per The Baltimore Banner, the victim was quickly transported to Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center, only to be pronounced dead.
In the aftermath of the incident, during an extensive investigation, Cedar Lane at Holland Court was closed for roughly two hours. The road closure caused temporary disruptions, but normal traffic conditions were restored following the initial probe into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
The police department, which has not yet responded to a request for comment regarding the ongoing investigation, is urging witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
