Early this morning, tragedy struck on the southbound lanes of the 110 Freeway in Highland Park when a single vehicle was involved in a fatal rollover. The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the incident at approximately 4:42 AM, where they found one person trapped inside the overturned car. Despite the rapid response, the individual was found to be deceased at the scene.
The LAFD deployed Heavy Rescue apparatus to assist in uprighting the vehicle, a crucial step to allow the Office of the Medical Examiner to better access the scene. This occurrence resulted in traffic disruptions, and as emergency responders worked diligently to handle the logistics of the situation, the California Highway Patrol has taken over the investigation of the crash. Officials have advised motorists to expect delays and have referred all questions regarding the incident to CHP Log# 337.
According to the information shared by the Los Angeles Fire Department, numerous units, including Battalion Chief 2, Engine 12, Engine 212, Engine 42, Engine 55, Emergency Medical 1, Heavy Rescue 3, Rescue Ambulance 12, and Rescue Ambulance 47, were dispatched to the site, located in Council District 14, under the command of Central Bureau.
The investigation into the cause of the accident remains ongoing, and the identity of the victim has not been released pending notification of next of kin. The Los Angeles Fire Department has not provided further details regarding the circumstances leading up to the accident.
