In a recent patrol operation on Christmas Eve, Ventura County Sheriff's deputies apprehended 24-year-old Emanuel Moreno-Diaz in the 100 Block of Santa Clara Street, Fillmore, following community reports of heightened criminal activity in the area. This detainment led to the recovery of two firearms linked to a previous burglary in Los Angeles County, according to the Ventura County Sheriff's Office.
The arrest occurred at around 9:10 AM when deputies, responding to calls from the public about the rising crime rates, conducted foot patrols to interact with the locals and dissuade further illegal activities, but it was during one such patrol that Emanuel Moreno-Diaz, known to be transient and whose past included trespassing infractions, was stopped under suspicion of trespassing once again, and upon this detainment, he was discovered in possession of the stolen firearms, which a records check confirmed as stolen during an October Los Angeles County burglary, as reported by the Ventura County Sheriff's Office.
Moreno-Diaz now faces charges including trespassing per Penal Code § 602 (o), possession of stolen property in violation of Penal Code § 496 (a), and unlawful transfer of firearms as outlined in Penal Code § 27545. He was booked into the Ventura County Main Jail, details provided in the official press release.
Ventura County Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to the arrest and criminal complaint against those responsible for the crimes linked to the confiscated firearms; tipsters can remain anonymous and should call 800-222-TIPS (8477).
