On Wednesday night, a vehicle fire on the San Diego (405) Freeway sparked a brush fire in Bel Air, which was efficiently subdued by firefighters after it charred approximately a quarter-acre. The incident began around 8:30 p.m. and was battled alongside the southbound lanes of the freeway near the 800 block of North Sepulveda Boulevard, Patch reported.

As the fire took hold of the nearby shrubbery, causing concerns that winds might escalate the situation, crews aggressively fought to bring the fire under control. Despite the difficult situation being handled, the California Highway Patrol issued a SigAlert for the proximity of the freeway at Getty Center Drive shortly after 9 p.m., according to the Patch.

"Firefighters worked quickly to get lines in place on the flanks of the fire while additional crews handled the hybrid auto which ignited the brush fire," Margaret Stewart said. The LAFD stated "No structures damaged and no injuries reported. Firefighters will continue to address hot spots which may impact the SB 405 Freeway."
