
On the afternoon of Friday, a house fire was swiftly contained thanks to the decisive actions of a Fond du Lac police officer. According to FOX6 News, the fire - which broke out on the second floor of a residence on N. Hickory Street - was extinguished by the officer using a portable fire extinguisher before the fire department arrived.
The Fond du Lac Fire Rescue team arrived at the scene to find smoke billowing from the second floor, and although the fire had already been put out, they conducted a thorough search to ensure it had not spread, quickly ascertained there were no further dangers; Fond du Lac Fire Rescue later highlighted the role of the officer in preventing more extensive damage and controlling the fire promptly. KFIZ reported, "The quick action by the Fond du Lac Police Officer prevented further damage from occurring and controlled the fire in its early stages."
Fortunately, the incident did not result in any injuries, and no additional structures were harmed, crews proceeded to remove damaged items and ventilate the home to clear the smoke that lingered. In the wake of the incident, Fond du Lac Fire Rescue urged the community to exercise caution when using space heaters, advising to keep them away from any combustible materials.
