The city of Vallejo is reeling after the arrest of a former teacher on charges of sexual misconduct involving a minor. The Vallejo Police apprehended 46-year-old John Paul Acac yesterday, a Vallejo resident and ex-educator, on felony charges, including lewd acts with a minor and witness intimidation. The news was made public the following day.
Acac, who resigned from the Vallejo City Unified School District (VCUSD) on December 9, had been a teacher in the district since 2005. He had also worked as a teacher and athletic coach at Vallejo High School and the John Finney Education Complex. He is currently being held in Solano County Jail, with bail set at $585,000.
According to Vallejo Police, the alleged incidents occurred about a decade ago. In response, police are urging anyone with additional information or those who may have been affected to come forward. Contact options include Officer Valeria Banda and Detective Daniel Callison.
