Fort Worth residents and organizations take note: there's still time to throw your hat in the ring for the 2024 Mayor's Neighborhood Awards. In an announcement that will be welcome news for community champions across the city, the application deadline has been extended to 5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, 2025. The event is designed to celebrate the various contributions made to Fort Worth neighborhoods, covering a range of categories from civic engagement to health and wellness.
According to the City of Fort Worth, the awards are up for grabs and span categories such as 'Fort Worth Pride,' 'Spirit of Fort Worth,' and 'Mayor’s Civic Engagement & Community Collaboration,' among others. This year's notable addition is the 'Distinguished Service to Veterans Award,' which recognizes significant voluntary contributions that have left a positive and enduring impact on local veterans.
The big celebration is scheduled for Saturday, March 1, and will take place at the Doxology Bible Church. It will be an occasion where Fort Worth's sense of community will be the guest of honor as individuals and groups who've strengthened the fabric of the city's neighborhoods are brought into the light.
