Foster City has just announced the appointment of Cory Call as the new Chief of the Foster City Police Department. Call will replace Tracy Avelar, who took up a similar role last month in Pleasanton. According to Foster City, Call has been with the force since 2001 and has held the title of Captain of the Patrol Division since 2019.
"We are thrilled to promote Chief Call, who has demonstrated admirable commitment to serving and protecting our community over the past two decades," City Manager Stefan Chatwin stated, as per Foster City. Call, who recently was the Captain of the Patrol Division, brings significant experience and a deep knowledge of the community he is tasked with safeguarding. The city manager expressed strong confidence in Call's ability to maintain and possibly elevate the police department's standard of service.
Throughout his tenure with the Foster City Police Department, Call has undertaken substantial educational endeavors to better his service capabilities. He holds a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice Management from Union Institute and University and a master's degree in Law Enforcement and Public Safety Leadership from the University of San Diego. In addition to his academic credentials, Call is a graduate of the esteemed Sherman Block Leadership Institute, the LAPD Leadership Academy, and POST Command College.
In a statement celebrating his new role, Chief Call said, "It’s an honor to serve the Foster City community alongside the dedicated and talented members of the Foster City Police Department." He added, as cited by Foster City, "I am humbled to now have the privilege of leading our exceptional team as we continue to uphold our mission of delivering excellent service to every person who lives, works, and plays in this amazing city."
