Four individuals are facing a slew of charges in connection with a series of "smash and grab" thefts from vehicles across western Pennsylvania, with the crimes allegedly leading to stolen identities and unauthorized access to victims' bank accounts, as disclosed by Attorney General Michelle Henry in a statement. The accused, identified as Amed Henderson, Shaquan Moore, Theresa Imel, and Elizabeth Madden, allegedly executed the thefts in several counties, including Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, Erie, Lawrence, Washington, and Westmoreland, with multiple police departments piecing together their operation through techniques such as car rental records examination and video surveillance.

According to the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General's official statement, the operation targeted vehicles in public areas like parks, gyms, and recreational centers where Henderson and Moore are alleged to have used rented vehicles and stolen license plates to scout for potential victims. Once the vehicles were broken into, often by shattering windows, the criminals reportedly made away with personal items, including credit cards, checks, and IDs, then invaded the victims' bank accounts and distributed the ill-gotten gains amongst themselves, with this string of invasions hitting a total of 68 individuals over 19 police jurisdictions.

The charges against the group are serious, encompassing corrupt organizations, conspiracy, identity theft, and forgery. Henderson, a 32-year-old Pittsburgh resident, faces charges of corrupt organization and fleeing from a police officer, among others. Moore, also 32 and from Pittsburgh, is confronted with similar charges plus identity theft and multiple counts of conspiracy. Imel, 43, from Dravosburg, and Madden, 33, from Elizabeth, are both charged with corrupt organization and conspiracy linked to identity theft.

Senior Deputy Attorney General Alexander Cashman is leading the charge in prosecuting the cases. Until adjudication unfolds, each defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
