On Monday, the quiet early morning hours in Dorchester were disrupted by gunfire. According to a press release from the Worcester Police Department, officers were dispatched to 58 Dorchester St. around 2:30 a.m. after receiving reports of shots fired. Upon arrival, they found a male victim with multiple gunshot wounds inside a vehicle. Although he was transported to the hospital, he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
As the case unfolded, detectives identified and developed probable cause against four individuals. The suspects include Adrian Rodriguez, born August 2, 1991; Dylan Driscoll, born June 16, 2005, and Darius Perkins, born February 15, 2004, each charged with armed assault with intent to murder. The fourth suspect is a juvenile, whose name and details have not been disclosed due to their age, they also face charges of armed assault with intent to murder.
Dylan Driscoll was notably apprehended outside of the state—in New Jersey by the Hardyston Township Police Department, on a warrant charging him for his alleged role in the crime. The collaborative efforts between local and federal law enforcement, namely the USMS Fugitive Task Force, State Police VFAS, Fitchburg PD, Leominster PD, and Worcester PD led to the arrest of Mr. Rodriguez, Mr. Perkins, and the unnamed juvenile earlier this morning in Fitchburg.
As the legal process takes its course, the city grapples with the reverberations of violence, and the all-too-familiar narrative of lives derailed by the pull and the pause of the trigger. The Worcester Police Department has stressed their ongoing commitment, to investigate and hold all those involved accountable, according to law enforcement officials.
