Time is running out to brighten the holidays for local children. The Franklin Police Department's Holiday Toy Drive is almost over, with only two days remaining to contribute. This year marks the toy drive's ninth anniversary, bringing joy and honoring memories. Donations of new, unwrapped toys for teenagers aged 14 to 17 are especially needed.
According to the Franklin Police Department release, the toy drive honors the memory of Kristi Clark and her son, Carter Oakley, who were tragically killed in a 2015 semitruck accident. Their memory lives on through the act of giving and the handcrafted wooden toy chests made by Kristi’s father, Brad Lewis, used to collect the toys. The initiative will conclude this Friday when the gifts are distributed to families in need within the Franklin community.
Those looking to contribute can bring their donations to the Franklin Police Department Headquarters located at 900 Columbia Ave. The office is accepting gifts from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
