Frisco residents and visitors looking forward to the Frosty 5K and Merry Main Street events will need to plan around a series of road closures set to take place in the city this weekend. The City of Frisco has announced that certain streets will be temporarily off-limits to accommodate the festivities and ensure safety for all participants. On Saturday, December 7, from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m., motorists can expect Main St. and southbound Frisco St. near Toyota Stadium to be closed.
For those trying to navigate the area, alternative routes have been provided. Traffic on Main St. will be detoured either using Dallas Pkwy., Eldorado Pkwy., and North County Rd. to the north, or John W. Elliott Dr., Page St., and Dallas Pkwy. to the south. To better assist residents and visitors, the City of Frisco encourages the use of the Waze app to smoothly navigate around the expected road closures. Meanwhile, preparations are already in motion, with Simpson Plaza in front of the George A. Purefoy Municipal Center closing on the preceding Thursday and Friday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. to set up for the celebrations.
As detailed on the City of Frisco's website, those attempting to reach businesses along Coleman Blvd on Thursday will have to use the parking areas behind the buildings, accessible from driveways on Main St. or World Cup Way. On Friday, visitors will have the ability to approach City Hall from all directions but without the option to drive or park directly in front of the Municipal Center.
Parking for the Saturday event will be decidedly structured, with race participants and attendees directed to park in the designated lots of Toyota Stadium or the parking garage behind City Hall. Special provisions are also in place for individuals who require ADA accessible parking, which will be available on each level of the City Hall parking garage next to the elevators. Later in the day, after the race has wound down, Main St., Frisco St., and World Cup Way will be set to reopen at 10 a.m., although some areas within Frisco Square will remain close for the Merry Main Street event. Furthermore, free shuttles will be made available starting at 2:30 p.m. to facilitate the attendee flow to and from the event locations.
