The city offered more than just new scenery; it provided Yates with a renewed sense of purpose, and in the intervening years, he not only honed his readiness to answer the call of fires and crisis but also found solace in the guidance of a deputy chief in Belmont, with whom he connected through The Point Church. "I realized my nine-to-five job wasn't fulfilling, my true passion lies in helping others," Yates said, punctuating his resolve, obtained by the City of Charlotte.
