Two Georgia law enforcement officials, Game Warden Matt Tsiklistas and Georgia State Patrol Sgt. Ty Brooks, were recognized for their exemplary courage, awarded with the Acts of Heroism Award by Gov. Brian Kemp. This award came as a result of their actions during a fiery crash in Glynn County. On the day of the incident, the officers responded to a crash on Georgia 25, where they found a pickup truck engulfed in flames. With ammunition erupting around them due to the intense heat from the fire, Tsiklistas and Brooks worked together to rescue an injured driver from the blaze, navigating the life-threatening scene with precision and swiftness, according to the Fox 5 Atlanta report.
Gov. Kemp, acknowledging the heroics of Georgia's public safety personnel, presented Spalding County Firefighter Joshua Goss with the Heroism Award during the same annual ceremony at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center in Forsyth. Goss, celebrated for his gallantry, stood among eight honored for their acts that ventured beyond their everyday call of duty. Upon receiving the award, Goss joined an esteemed group of recipients who have made perilous sacrifices in order to rescue residents within the state, as reported by Griffin Daily News.
The Georgia Department of Natural Resources lauded the bravery of Tsiklistas and Brooks in a social media post, stating, "There is no doubt that the quick response of both officers, and the disregard for their own personal safety, saved the life of the pickup driver and possibly others," as noted by Fox 5 Atlanta.
