After establishing a strong fan base in Downtown Dadeland, Ghee Indian Kitchen is set to open a new location in Wynwood, confirming a trend where top-tier eateries are sprawling into Miami's bustling arts district. The much-anticipated Wynwood outpost will welcome diners starting tomorrow, located at 63 NW 24th St., offering the same beloved modern Indian cuisine that Chef Niven Patel and restaurateur Mo Alkassar are known for. According to a report by Miami New Times, this second Ghee location aims to capture the same farm-to-table approach that has gathered a following at the original.
The design of the new space, conceived by Paty Duran, maintains the intimate feel of Ghee, inspired by a trip to India. As Miami New Times reported, Duran worked with Alkassar on creating an atmosphere that feels like walking into someone's home, featuring handmade furniture and intricate details. Keeping the essence of their root location, guests can expect a vibrant palette complemented by Matthew Hergert's eight-month labor of love, the mural "Abundance II," which takes a collective bow to the singular elephant painted at the Dadeland spot. This artistic highlight draws parallels with the growing family of patron's restaurants.
With attention to culinary detail, Ghee's menu will carry over its Miami-Dade signatures while integrating an exclusive selection of Wynwood-specific items that include 10 to 15 additions like kebab grill options. Patel promises, "What made Ghee Ghee is still on the menu," with delectable treats like brie and truffle naan, a melange of diverse curries, and a 13-dish tasting menu, as Miami Herald conveys.
Intriguing the taste buds further, the restaurant will also debut a "farm to glass" cocktail program. Alkassar and Patel have concocted drinks such as the Ginger Kokum Spritz and Night Market espresso martini, sourcing ingredients from Chef Patel's own farm. Adding a touch of cultural finesse, Ghee is poised to offer a Hi-Chai afternoon tea service starting in January, presenting a tower of both sweet and savory Indian snacks, as told by Miami Herald. This novelty comes alongside the lauded $75 tasting menu and a $24 tiffin lunch option that demonstrates the restaurant's commitment to both value and quality.
Entrepreneurs Patel and Alkassar are adapting to the mixed demographic of Wynwood, applying insights from their recent venture in South Beach, where they've catered to a blend of locals and tourists. Alkassar, in preparation for the Wynwood opening, observed the return of many repeat guests, fueling confidence in the new establishment's potential for fostering a regular following.
