A domestic disturbance in Goldsboro turned violent when a man allegedly opened fire on a vehicle containing a woman and two children. CBS17 reported that the incident occurred early Tuesday, just after midnight. The local ShotSpotter system, which detects and locates gunshots, alerted the Goldsboro Police Department to the gunfire at the 900 block of Slaughter Street.
Upon arrival, officers discovered that shots had been fired during a domestic dispute, hitting a vehicle with a 29-year-old adult and two young children inside, a two-year-old and a four-year-old, and the next day police arrested 40-year-old Alan Miller Jr, and he was at the same location, according to WNCT.
In the wake of the shooting, Miller Jr. faces a slew of charges. He was charged with three counts of attempted first-degree murder, five counts of felony discharge of a weapon into an occupied moving vehicle, two counts of felony negligent child abuse causing serious physical injury, one count of misdemeanor assault on a female, and one count of misdemeanor discharging a firearm in city limits, as detailed by CBS17.
The Goldsboro Police Department, aided by their Special Enforcement Unit, were able to arrest Miller without incident following the reported shooting arresting him on the scene of the initial crime, and it is a reminder of the tangible dangers that can lurk in domestic situations WITN notes that authorities responded to the ShotSpotter alert for five shots and subsequently found the targeted vehicle.
