In a recent appointment, Governor Greg Abbott tapped James M. Bass to take a slot on the Texas County and District Retirement System Board of Trustees. The position, which is to last until the closing days of 2025, puts Bass in a pivotal role overlooking the retirement needs of county and district employees across the Lone Star State.
Bass joins the board with an extensive background in financial management and administrative oversight in public service. Formerly at the helm of the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority as its executive director, Bass has been credited to broadly understand the financial intricacies of state transportation and development. "He was the chief financial officer and later executive director of the Texas Department of Transportation," noted the announcement from the Governor's office.
Education is also a significant aspect of Bass's qualifications. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from The University of Texas at Austin, bringing both academic credentials and practical experience.
