As severe weather is expected to hit East and Southeast Texas this weekend, Governor Greg Abbott has instructed the Texas Division of Emergency Management to prepare state emergency response resources. "Texas is deploying emergency response resources ahead of severe weather," Abbott said. Residents are urged to stay alert and take necessary precautions as storms approach, according to the Office of the Texas Governor.
The National Weather Service is warning of heavy rainfall starting Sunday, which could lead to flash flooding, continuing into the night. In response, the Governor has activated resources, including Swiftwater Rescue Boat Squads from the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service and Search and Rescue Boat Teams from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, both ready to assist with flood response, as reported by the Office of the Texas Governor.
Governor Abbott urged Texans to stay alert and follow local officials' warnings during floods. "Remember: Turn Around, Don’t Drown," he said, flooded roads can be extremely hazardous. The Texas Division of Emergency Management has activated resources to help. Texans should make an emergency plan, pack a supply kit, and stay updated.
