Yesterday, Governor Greg Abbott announced the appointment of Lori Ann DeAngelo to the position of Judge of the 495th Judicial District Court in Harris County. Taking effect on January 1, 2025, DeAngelo's term is slated to end on December 31, 2026, unless her successor is elected and qualified prior to that date. This appointment fills a vacancy that will ensure the continued function of the judicial system in one of Texas's most populous regions.
DeAngelo is stepping into this role from her current position as Judge of the 487th Judicial District Court, also in Harris County. Having dedicated over two decades of her career to the legal system, DeAngelo has vast experience, having served as an assistant district attorney in addition to her tenure in private practice. According to an announcement by the Governor's Office, her educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from the University of Florida and a Juris Doctor from Baylor Law School.
DeAngelo is known for her involvement with the State Bar of Texas and the Harris County Criminal Lawyers Association. These affiliations reflect her commitment to professional development and community engagement.
