As the festive season is upon us, the City of Grand Prairie has announced closures and schedule changes to accommodate the Christmas and New Year's holidays. In a statement released by the City of Grand Prairie, residents can expect city administrative offices to shut down on December 24, December 25, and January 1.
Not immune to the holiday spirit, the landfill and garbage collection services will also be taking a short break. With the landfill closed on Christmas Day and New Year's Day, garbage collection and recycling will not take place on these days. Instead, services will shift to the next day for each service day within the holiday week, allowing residents to plan for the disposal of their festive waste.
Yet, not all services will be pausing for the holidays. Epic Waters will continue to welcome guests looking to make a splash, with more details available at EpicWatersgp.com. For those keen on ending the year with a light display, Prairie Lights will shine bright every night, concluding its run on the last day of the year, December 31.
Several recreation centers will also be observing the holiday closures, with the Charley Taylor Recreation Center, Dalworth Recreation Center, and Tony Shotwell Life Center shuttered on December 24, December 25, and January 1. Similarly, The Summit and The Epic, along with the Kirby Creek Indoor Pool, will be closed, offering residents a chance to spend time with family and at home without losing access to their favorite fitness centers.
For residents and their furry friends, the Animal Shelter will also be taking a brief hiatus on the same dates. However, those looking to expand their brood can take advantage of the adoption-only open hours on December 23. City libraries will join the list of closures, but electronic resources remain accessible, and book drops stay open for returning borrowed items.
The golfers of Grand Prairie won't be left out in the cold either. While the last tee time at Prairie Lakes and Tangle Ridge Golf Courses on December 24 will be at 10 a.m., and the courses will be closed on Christmas Day, enthusiasts can still enjoy a game around the holidays. Lastly, the Tourist Center will match the closure pattern of many city amenities on December 24, December 25, and January 1.
