A tragic unfolding in Haines City last night left one woman dead and another injured due to gunshot wounds. According to WTSP, the victims, a 33-year-old woman and a 41-year-old woman, were traveling in a car when they were shot from behind, with evidence suggesting their vehicle was "intentionally targeted." Sadly, the younger woman succumbed to her injuries while the older woman is in stable condition.
Police responded to the incident around 6:20 p.m. along Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Way, prompted by a 911 call by one of the victims. As reported by WFLA, the two women were found suffering from gunshot wounds and were promptly taken to a hospital. While the investigation continues, Haines City Police Department has not yet taken any suspects into custody, but they have reassured the public that there appears to be no further threat.
The Haines City Police Department is actively seeking help to unearth more details about the crime. The incident quickly escalated from a case of injury to a homicide investigation when one of the victims, identified as a 33-year-old black female, did not survive her injuries.
