
The Harris County Sheriff's Office has partnered with the charitable organization Navidad en el Barrio to provide Christmas gifts to children whose mothers are at the Harris County Jail Women's Empowerment Center. Navidad en el Barrio, founded in 1987 by retired HPD Officer Israel "Izzy" Gomez Jr., supports underprivileged communities, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.
On Friday afternoon, forty-four children will receive gifts from Navidad en el Barrio, funded through donations. The event aims to bring holiday support to families affected by incarceration, will also include seventeen residents from the center, as reported by the Harris County Sheriff's Office.
The Harris County Sheriff's Office is hosting a holiday event at the Harris County Women's Empowerment Center, 1307 Baker Street, Houston, to support mothers and children affected by the criminal justice system.
