If you're planning to visit the Hawaii Division of Motor Vehicles next Wednesday, you might need to reschedule. The Division of Motor Vehicles has announced it will be shut down on December 11 to allow for a day of staff training. You'll have to wait until Thursday, December 12, to get your vehicle and driving-related errands taken care of when the Division of Motor Vehicles resumes its normal operating hours, as stated in an official release from the County of Kaua'i.
For those of you who are sticklers for making an appointment, the Division of Motor Vehicles typically allows you to check in upto 15 minutes before your appointment time. But be wary not to arrive later than 5 minutes past your time slot or you'll lose your appointment and be slotted in with the walk-in crowd. Walk-ins are welcome until 2:00 p.m., but it's first-come, first-serve as time permits. So it could quite easily become a test of patience, as reported by the County of Kaua'i.
Let's not forget about our seniors; the Division of Motor Vehicles has not forgotten you. Kupuna Hour is the early bird special for those who are 65 and older, available from 8 a.m. to 8:45 a.m., Monday through Friday. No appointments are necessary during this time—just another way to efficiently get you in, out, and on with your day, as mentioned by the County of Kaua'i
If you've got questions or you're looking for more information, don't hesitate to directly reach out to the Division of Motor Vehicles. You can visit their website or send an email to [email protected] for any Division of Motor Vehicles-related inquiries, as per the County of Kaua'i. Keep in mind that the normal hours of operation are from 8:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays, excluding state and federal holidays. Plan accordingly to ensure you avoid any unnecessary trips to a closed Division of Motor Vehicles office.
