A Hays County man faces multiple charges related to family violence following his arrest, authorities say. The series of incidents led to a manhunt and subsequent capture of the suspect, now identified as Carlos Padilla.
Deputies from the Hays County Sheriff's Office initially responded to a domestic disturbance call on December 21 at a residence on the 2100 block of Mathias Lane. FOX 7 Austin reported that upon their arrival, Padilla had allegedly already fled the scene. A continued search yielded no results as the suspect remained at large. A second call for assault drew officers back to the same residence later, where they learned the suspect had once again fled before they could apprehend him.
An arrest warrant was soon issued for Padilla. On December 22, a tactical operation by the sheriff's office successfully ended with Padilla's arrest at his own residence. As stated by the Hays County Sheriff's Office and reported by Yahoo News, officials managed to take him into custody without incident.
The charges Padilla faces are grave, including unlawful restraint, interference with a 911 call, making a terroristic threat, and assaulting a pregnant person. These serious accusations underline the nature of the domestic violence issues at play, a reminder of the often hidden agonies occurring within the supposed sanctity of the home.
