The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation (HDOT) recently announced that essential electrical work will prompt a temporary closure of their Maui District Highways office. Located at 650 Palapala Drive in Kahului, the office is slated to be closed on December 26 and 27, as per a statement by HDOT. Residents who require services during the electrical upgrade will still be able to reach staff via phone at 808-873-3535 during their normal office hours, which run from 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Despite the closure of the office building and ongoing work at the adjacent base yard, operations and services will continue without interruption. While the public will not have physical access to the premises, they can be assured that their needs will be met remotely.
The office is scheduled to reopen to the public at the start of the following workweek. According to an official notice from the Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT), "The office is expected to reopen at 7:45 a.m., Monday, Dec. 30." The HDOT also expressed its appreciation for the public's patience and understanding during the upgrade process.
