A St. Petersburg family's dog played a crucial role in thwarting an attempted kidnapping of a 3-year-old child from their backyard, according to local police. WFLA reports that at approximately 12:05 p.m. on Saturday, Ron Lee Klein Jr., 36, entered the family's secured backyard and attempted to abduct the toddler when the canine intervened, barking aggressively at the assailant and effectually drawing the attention of a nearby person who pursued Klein while yelling.
