Early this morning, a high-speed motorcycle chase initiated by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) resulted in a coordinated search effort in Rohnert Park's A-Section. According to a social media post by the Cotati Police Department, the motorcycle, carrying two occupants, was abandoned along the Copeland Creek path. The suspects then attempted to escape on foot.
The chase began with the CHP but soon escalated, prompting a response from multiple agencies, including Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety (RPDPS), Sonoma County Sheriff, and the Cotati Police Department. After setting up a perimeter, the tactical response necessitated K9 assistance. K9 Dolly and her handler, Officer Sullivan, were commanded to begin tracking from where the motorcycle had been discarded, inadvertently finding a male subject crossing the street near an apartment complex matching the rider's description and who then, only after starting to run away, failed to comply with verbal commands from the officers.
In a chase that can only be described as a game of cat and mouse, the male suspect was swiftly apprehended following a brief foot pursuit by officers from CHP and RPDPS. "K9 Dolly trailed from the motorcycle to the subject detained and sat, confirming the subject as the rider of the motorcycle," reported the Cotati Police Department.
Meanwhile, the female passenger conjured her attempt at evasion, detectable only by the vigilant eyes of the CHP aircraft above. Her freedom was short-lived as the aircrew directed ground units to her location, leading to her subsequent detention.
