Hilliard's holiday spirit is alive, as the Hilliard Division of Police (HPD) has teamed up with CSX Railroad and the First Responders Children’s Foundation to bring joy to the community's children this season. Over 400 toys, ranging from electronic keyboards and plush toys to dolls, have been donated for distribution. These gifts will be funneled through the Hilliard Food Pantry, hitting the hands of young ones before the holiday crescendo.

Securing a partnership with CSX in the organization's annual Toy Express program meant HPD had the means to reach out and hug the community tighter than before in a time when spirits can run low, the weight of the year coming to rest on the shoulders of parents who might find their pockets too light. This initiative isn't merely about gifting but creating a shimmer of warmth in an often cold and unpredictable world; it's a chance to make a child feel included, to craft a memory instead of a moment, perhaps a small but steadfast rebellion against the notion that some must always get less.

HPD's Community Relations Officer Mike Deaton, the project's overseer, expressed the sentiment behind the campaign "Often times, our jobs require us to see kids during different, challenging circumstances," and he added, "This is our chance to ensure every child feels included. It’s what the holidays are all about," City of Hilliard reported. With 70 law enforcement agencies nationwide, HPD's involvement illustrates a focused initiative to foster police-community bridges operating with CSX rail lines.

CSX highlighted the dual purpose of this campaign, noting the added benefit of increasing visibility for police programming, "Increasing awareness about police programs, while spreading holiday joy for children in the communities we operate, is just another way CSX Special Agents work alongside FRCF to support this important event and strengthen police-community relationships, according to the City of Hilliard, " CSX representative dialogue emphasized the broader theme of unity this effort seeks to sew into the fabric of participating neighborhoods, binding them not just in the shared experience of festivities but in the mutual effort of caregiving, a shared stitch in the tapestry of a community.
