
Hawai'i Island's Police Department is reaching out to the community for help in identifying a woman involved in a recent robbery. An early morning incursion at a Hilo grocery store on Makaala Street, occurring on December 11, left an employee assaulted and the police seeking information.
According to a Hawaii Police Department news release, the suspect, after selecting several items and placing them in her basket, attempted to leave the store without rendering payment. When confronted by a female employee, she was struck by the suspect, who then made her getaway in a white Honda Civic. Captured by video surveillance, the police are now analyzing the footage.
Details about the suspect are currently limited, and the authorities are relying on the public’s assistance to shed light on this incident. Engaging with the community, the police have asked for anyone with information or the ability to identify the female suspect to come forward.
