Following a hit-and-run incident yesterday morning, an abrupt collision has shuttered a Cleveland staple, Charlie's Dog House Diner. According to a statement by the establishment on Facebook, a maroon pickup truck inflicted considerable damage on their premises around 4 a.m. and then fled the scene. Cleveland19 News reported that the local diner, a familiar fixture for 18 years, must now close its doors indefinitely.
The owner, Tami Johnson, expressed her dismay to Cleveland19 News, stating, "It sucks around the holidays...it sucks for the business." Amidst the ruins of shattered glass and crumbled walls, the festive spirits are as dimmed as the "CLOSED" sign now flickering in the aftermath. A vigilance for the "maroon, red-ish pickup truck right here in the intersection leaving the scene," as described by Johnson, has been called for amongst the denizens of Old Brooklyn.
Despite the setback, Charlie's Dog House Diner vowed to continue updating their patrons. News 5 Cleveland and WKYC have both reached out to Cleveland Police for more details regarding the ongoing investigation but have not yet received any updates to disseminate.
