A confrontation in northwest Harris County led to the death of a homeowner earlier today, according to authorities. Deputies arrived at the 5700 block of Pebble Springs Drive, near FM 1960, responding to an emergency call placed around 1 a.m.
In a statement obtained by KPRC 2, Harris Co. Sheriff Ed Gonzalez shared that an argument ensued after a man, recently evicted from the residence, returned and confronted the homeowner. During the altercation, the man fatally shot the homeowner before fleeing the scene.
According to Gonzalez's account to ABC13, the residence was occupied by a range of individuals, from children to adults. The incident has led to several detentions, although specifics about these individuals have not been disclosed.
The identity of the deceased homeowner has yet to be released, and it remains unclear whether the suspected shooter was a permanent resident of the household. Providing insight into the ongoing investigation, Sheriff Gonzalez stated that authorities have an idea about the suspect's identity, however, they are probing into the details to determine if the killing was an act of murder or self-defense.
