Houston residents can expect a smattering of showers today with the possibility of heavier rain this weekend, according to the latest weather forecasts. The National Weather Service predicts "A 20 percent chance of showers after 4pm. Cloudy, with a high near 67," with an east wind that could gust up to 20 mph. Moving into the evening, there will be "A 40 percent chance of showers, mainly before 3am," and the temperature is expected to dip only slightly to around 65 degrees with some gusts possibly hitting the same highs as during the day.
The weekend weather is taking an upturn in temperature with highs slated for the mid-70s, while the rain is not planning to take any breaks either. According to a Fox26 Houston report, "There is a chance for a few showers today, but higher rain coverage will be on Saturday evening." Southeast winds will continue to add to the cloud cover, sustaining the warmer temperatures evening through the night.
As we roll into Saturday, the conditions could complicate with a potential mix of showers and thunderstorms after noon, dangling a 50 percent chance of precipitation over Houston's head. Saturday night brings a slight calming with a diminished 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before midnight, and some areas of fog may visit after the storms.
The forecast for Sunday and into the early week appears to be a bit of a weather seesaw. Sunday morning may begin cloaked in areas of fog before 9 a.m., but otherwise, expect "mostly cloudy" skies with a high nearing 76 degrees. Moving into Monday, the chance for showers and thunderstorms jumps back to 50 percent, with fog expected early in the morning before the partly sunny conditions peek through the cloud veneer.
