On Tuesday night, a Houston father reportedly shot his adult son in the leg after the son became belligerent and threatened him. KHOU reports that the altercation took place at a home on Arbor Street and, according to the Houston Police Department, the son was drinking heavily and has a history of violence, including an incident where he broke his father's arm last year.
The situation got worse when the son threatened his father, saying, "I'm going to put you under," which the father understood as a death threat. Witnesses attested to the son breaking a mirror and advancing towards the family's dog before targeting his father. The father, in his early 70s, initially fired a warning shot with his pistol but, was forced to shoot his son in the leg when the latter continued his aggressive approach, according to FOX 26 Houston.
A man in his 30s was injured in an argument with his father and is expected to recover. No charges have been filed against the father, and the police are investigating.
