A woman is facing serious charges after her daughter was reportedly found confined to a dog cage. Rose Marie Anderson, 55, was arrested on allegations of tying up her 7-year-old daughter and locking her inside a dog cage, according to Click2Houston. The charges against her include injury to a child, and unlawful restraint, court documents state.
The incident, which occurred on or around December 13, court documents detailed that Anderson zip-tied her daughter's arms and duct-taped her mouth before leaving the child in the cage without food, water, or bathroom access, causing the child to urinate on herself. The motive behind this alleged abuse was the child's behavior at school. Anderson is held on a $40,000 bond, as she awaits further legal proceedings.
In statements to local media, saying, "very saddening to think that someone would do that to a child, or anyone, yeah, and at this time of year," Rose Bennett, a neighbor, shared with KHOU 11 News. Allante Ricks, another resident and mother, said, "Putting your child in a cage? I would never. I can't imagine. My heart goes out to the little girl, you know. That's trauma for her."
The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, currently investigating the abuse allegations alongside law enforcement, has confirmed the child is now in foster care. "CPS is investigating these abuse allegations alongside law enforcement. The child is now safe in foster care where she is receiving the care she needs," a representative from the department conveyed to KHOU 11 News. Anderson's next court appearance is planned for January 6, where she will face a preliminary hearing, and a review of her bail will take place.
