A suspect has been detained and faces charges in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred at a Houston gas station earlier this month. The Houston Police Department reported that 47-year-old Armando Ruiz Diaz has been charged with murder following the death of 45-year-old Edward Jimenez. The incident took place at approximately 8:55 a.m. on December 5, at the address 11211 Almeda Genoa Road. HPD officers responded after a report of a man claiming to have been shot was made to a station employee.
Medical aid was provided by the officers on the scene until paramedics from the Houston Fire Department arrived. The victim was taken to HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake where he was later pronounced dead. The victim's vehicle displayed multiple bullet strikes, suggesting he was shot while inside the car. Following an investigation, detectives identified Ruiz Diaz as a suspect in the fatal shooting, leading to his arrest last Friday. According to the official police release, he was subsequently booked into the Harris County Jail.
Sergeant C. Duncan and Detective V. Nguyen of the HPD Homicide Division spearheaded the investigation. The suspect's booking photo has been released and is available through the Houston Police Department's news release. This case is being handled by the 248th State District Court where Ruiz Diaz faces his charges.
