A Houston father is facing legal consequences after leaving his 4-year-old child in a car while he was gambling. The Harris County Precinct 4 Constable's Office said deputies responded to a 911 call about an unsupervised child at the Sam Houston Race Park on Thursday, according to KHOU.
Deputies found a 4-year-old child alone in a car that wasn’t running. "Precinct 4 deputies found the 4-year-old alone inside a vehicle that wasn't running," KHOU reported. The child's father, Daniel Ruiz, returned and told investigators he had been inside the race park gambling.
Ruiz was arrested and charged with child abandonment after "Investigators determined the child had been unattended for over four hours." "Child Protective Services was contacted. A guardian arrived on the scene and took custody of the child." The exact circumstances are unclear, but the legal process will likely reveal more details, as stated by FOX 26 Houston.
