Houston police are seeking public assistance in the case of a fatal shooting that occurred on Thursday morning. The incident took place at a gas station on Almeda Genoa Road at approximately 8:55 a.m. Authorities have released surveillance photos of a burgundy Kia Optima, which detectives believe could be connected to the crime, as per the official press release.
The victim, a 45-year-old man whose name has not yet been released, was found suffering from gunshot wounds. He had approached an employee at the gas station and indicated that he had been shot before Houston police arrived on scene. Despite officers administering medical assistance, the victim was pronounced dead after being transported to HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake.
According to the HPD Homicide Division's Sergeant C. Duncan and Detective V. Nguyen, the victim's vehicle displayed multiple bullet strikes, indicating he was shot while inside it. They are pursuing leads that suggest individual(s) in the mentioned burgundy Kia Optima may hold valuable information regarding the incident.
Currently, the motive for the shooting remains unclear and no suspects are identified.
