On Christmas morning, traffic on I-10 Katy Freeway was disrupted by an 18-wheeler accident and Hazmat spill. The crash, which occurred near T.C. Jester Boulevard around 7:45 a.m., led to lane closures and delays for eastbound commuters, according to CW39.
Houston police and emergency units responded quickly to manage the scene and assist with the cleanup. By 11:30 a.m., blockades were still in place, diverting traffic around the West Loop to help reduce congestion, as reported by CW39.
As cleanup continued, KHOU suggested alternative routes for eastbound I-10 drivers, including using Loop 610 North, Antoine Drive to Memorial Drive, or Beltway 8 for a longer detour. Drivers were advised to stay updated on traffic conditions, as there was no set time for when all lanes would reopen. Houston TranStar and local news helped guide drivers through the delays.
