An altercation over a parking spot at a Houston grocery store culminated in the death of an 80-year-old military veteran, according to local authorities. The incident occurred last Friday outside of a Food Town, where Earl Hollins was allegedly assaulted by Anthony Ray Boyce, 57, following a heated argument. Fox San Antonio reported that Hollins succumbed to his injuries at the hospital last Saturday after suffering severe head trauma.
After the disagreement turned violent, the suspect allegedly departed leaving Earl Hollins unconscious in the parking lot. Previously known to each other, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office stated that the investigation into the relationship between Hollins and Boyce is ongoing. Arriving after the fatal incident, Hollins was beaten and left without consciousness by the suspect who then fled the scene.
"It wasn't human," she told Fox San Antonio. Hollins-Washington spoke on the senselessness of the violence over something as trivial as a parking spot and the devastating loss it had resulted in for their family.
As for the suspect, Boyce has been detained in the Harris County Jail with his bond set at $100,000. Facing a charge of aggravated assault with serious bodily injury, the Harris County District Attorney’s Office will review his case to determine if the charge should be upgraded in light of Hollins' death. According to detectives, they will confer with the district attorney's office, as per Yahoo News.
