Drivers who regularly travel through the Tacoma Tideflats will face one more week of detours. The Hylebos Bridge, a major route off East 11th Street, is currently closed to vehicles due to a technical issue. The City of Tacoma has announced that extensive repairs are in progress to restore the bridge's functionality.
The malfunction has notably not affected maritime activity, with the bridge continuing to open for shipping vessels navigating the waterway. Crews are urgently working to quickly resolve the issue while striving to minimize disruptions. The city expects to once again allow cars and trucks to traverse the bridge by next Friday.
