A 15-year-old boy is facing murder charges for the shooting death of a 17-year-old in the Hogan’s Creek neighborhood of Jacksonville. The incident, which took place on October 5, ended with Ken’yade Lamar Jones being fatally wounded. LeBron Sakhael Jacobs, the accused, turned himself into authorities last Thursday.
Police were called to the scene on Venus Mars Court after receiving reports of a shooting. There, they discovered Jones "suffering from at least one gunshot wound," as detailed in a news release by the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. Despite being transported to a local hospital and undergoing surgery, Jones succumbed to his injuries a few hours later. The case quickly evolved as homicide detectives zeroed in on Jacobs, later issuing a warrant for his arrest, News4Jax reports.
Following his surrender, Jacobs underwent questioning by JSO detectives and was then moved to the Pre-Trial Detention Facility. The update on the arrest was posted by the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, which also indicated that the State Attorney’s Office had issued a warrant for Jacobs during their investigation into the deadly incident, as reported by First Coast News.
"He was rushed to the hospital, where he passed away from his injuries," detailed a social media post from the JSO, shedding light on the immediate aftermath of the shooting, according to an account from Action News Jax.
