Speed enthusiasts in Hilliard, Ohio, have a new reason to rev their engines. K1 Speed, an Irvine, California-headquartered indoor go-kart racing operator, has recently inaugurated its second Ohio track, situated at 3700 Fishinger Blvd., according to a BizJournal's report. Previously a ContactUs Communications site, the new venue is comfortably housed within the suburban stretches of Hilliard's Mill Run neighborhood.
The state-of-the-art facility introduces a multi-level racing track to local thrill-seekers, complete with dramatic elevation shifts—promising a high-octane experience for teens and adults, reaching speeds of up to 45 mph and up to 20 mph for younger racers. As ABC6 reported, the establishment is not merely about racing; it also offers an immersive entertainment experience adorned with an arcade, the Paddock Lounge Café, and private party rooms.
K1 Speed brings more than just circuits and speed; it introduces a competitive edge to the local indoor karting scene. "We’re excited to bring a second location to Ohio," said Susan Danglard, co-owner and marketing director. In an endeavor to unearth and foster racing talent, the venue hosts the monthly Challenge GP league. According to NBC4i's coverage, the culmination of this competitive streak is the opportunity for top point earners to qualify for the K1 Speed E-World Championship, pitting the best of American racers against international counterparts from K1 locations across the globe, including England, France, and Italy.
With the opening in Hilliard, K1 Speed reaffirms its expansion ethos. Since its inception in 2003, the company has steadfastly driven to bring European-style electric kart racing to a global audience. Now operating in over 30 states and 10 countries, the track at 3700 Fishinger Blvd. represents an addition to its broad portfolio and a continual commitment to providing accessible, premiere racing thrills—with cost flexibility in mind. Prices start at $26.95 for a single race, with a "speed pass" offering bundled options for the more avid racers.
Safety and regulations are integral to the K1 Speed experience. Due to safety concerns, the company mandates closed-toe shoes for all drivers and rejects loose-fitting clothing, such as dresses. While drivers have no set age limit, a minimum height of four feet is required. Clear expectations are set: all participants must sign a waiver, and minors need a guardian's signature and presence. Operative hours in Hilliard extend from noon to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, from noon to midnight on Fridays, from 10 a.m. to midnight on Saturdays, and from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sundays, ready to accommodate the weekend warriors and after-work speed junkies alike.
