Residents planning to access services from the Department of Public Works Buildings Division will need to mark their calendars for a brief hiatus in operations later this month. The Buildings Division office will temporarily close its doors from Dec. 16 through Dec. 20, as confirmed in a recent announcement from the County of Kaua'i.
What's the reason behind the closure? The department is making moves back into the Moikeha Building, specifically suite 175. Beyond just a change in scenery, the transition will involve setting up essential equipment and hardware. During this period, the Building Permit Electronic Plan Review System (ePlan), along with the Building Permit Status Online services, will be put on pause, as detailed on the County of Kaua'i.
The shutdown affects not only in-person visits but also remote inquiries that many residents rely on. So, if you're trying to get a jump on that remodel or new construction, you best get your ducks in a row before mid-December. The department extends its thanks in advance for the community's patience and understanding through this short service gap, as per the County of Kaua'i.
The pause in service is not indefinite, however. According to the County of Kaua'i, all is set to be up and running by Monday, Dec. 23. So any disruption should be short-lived, at least that's the plan. In the meantime, officials are pointing folks to their website for more info on ePlan, the Building Permit Status Online service, or for any other concerns.
