As the festive season approaches, Kingsport city officials have outlined the schedule adjustments for public services, ensuring residents can plan ahead regarding waste disposal and other municipal facility access. According to information released by the City of Kingsport, all offices will shut their doors on December 24, December 25, and January 1 in observance of the Christmas and New Year's holidays.
Garbage collection will proceed as scheduled on December 23 and 24, with no disruptions before Christmas. However, since there will be no collection on December 25, services will resume with a one-day delay on December 26, covering the routes usually serviced on Christmas Day. The city’s announcement provides residents with information about the adjusted schedule during the holiday season.
The convenience center located at 300 Industry Drive presents residents with mixed operational hours. The center will open on December 24 and January 1 from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., accommodating any late disposal needs, according to a statement obtained by the City of Kingsport. The center will be closed all day on December 25. Regular hours will resume after this date, providing time for post-celebration clean-ups.
Sanitation crews will collect the additional waste from gift-giving between December 26 and December 31. Residents who prefer to drop off their holiday waste can do so at the new convenience center, which will be open from December 23 through January 4, except on Christmas Day.
